How to choose a TradingView to MT5 connector
27 Oct 2026 · 8 min read

A TradingView-to-MT5 connector should do more than forward a ticker. It must authenticate each webhook, translate broker symbols, deliver the signal to a terminal that can trade, and leave a clear record when the broker rejects it.
1. Does it need your MT5 password?
Prefer an architecture where a local Expert Advisor places the broker order. The bridge can receive the webhook and queue it, while the EA uses the already logged-in MT5 terminal. This avoids sending an MT5 password to a third-party server.
2. Does it understand real broker symbols?
TradingView and brokers often use different names. EURUSD may become EURUSD.m, and an index may have a broker-specific suffix. A useful connector compares the alert with the terminal's Market Watch and lets you confirm or override the result.
3. Can you audit a failed alert?
Look for separate states such as received, mapped, queued, sent, executed, and failed. The error should tell you whether the problem was JSON, an offline EA, a missing symbol, margin, volume, stops, or a broker rejection.
4. Are risk controls built in?
- A kill switch for new entries
- A maximum daily trade limit
- An optional drawdown pause
- Fixed-lot and risk-based sizing choices
- Clear close, closelong, and closeshort behavior
5. Can you test without guessing?
Start with a demo account, one small position, and a known symbol. Confirm the alert payload, mapping, EA connection, and broker response in that order. A connector should make this path visible instead of promising that every alert becomes a fill.
Where PineConnector fits
PineConnector uses a unique webhook, a local TV2MT5 Bridge EA, broker-aware mapping, and a trade log. It also supports Delta Exchange and CoinDCX through the same webhook, but those exchange orders are a separate market-order path and do not require the MT5 EA.
