Why EURUSD.m breaks copiers: MT5 symbol mapping and broker suffixes

TradingView says FX:EURUSD. A broker book can list EURUSD.m. A copier that forwards the raw ticker asks MT5 for EURUSD and the broker rejects it. Symbol mapping compares the alert with the names on that terminal's Market Watch, then stores the pair you confirm.

Suffixes you will actually see

PineConnector strips one trailing suffix, then a compact tail, and compares the base with the watchlist the EA uploaded. It is not a generic internet symbol list. Suffixes the matcher knows include .m, .pro, .raw, .ecn, -ecn, _i, .std, and .micro. A trailing m on a compact name such as EURUSDM is removed when the rest still looks like a symbol.

  • Mini / raw accounts: EURUSD.m, XAUUSD.m
  • Internal codes: EURUSD_i, US100.cash
  • Prime books: .pro, .raw, -ecn
  • Index and metal aliases the matcher already treats as one instrument: US100 and USTEC with NAS100, GOLD with XAUUSD. Names outside that list still need a manual row.

Auto-match, then confirm

On first connect the EA posts the watchlist. The next alert for EURUSD tries a suggestion and stores it as auto-matched. You still confirm in the dashboard. Wrong gold mapping is how accounts evaporate.

Running several logins? Export/import CSV from Symbol mapping so Pro and Multi accounts do not drift. The docs cover the confirm step.

If Market Watch is empty, mapping cannot guess. Attach the EA to a chart that sees the symbols you trade, or add them to Watch, then wait for the next symbol upload.

This is the usual reason a copier fails on the first live order. Confirm the row once. The setup guide has the confirm step, and the EA install guide is what fills Market Watch. Start a trial and watch the first auto-match land.
